The Centre for Community Law Extends its Presence to the Republic of Liberia, Appoints Bishop Dr Josiah K. Pah Sr. as Ambassador

The Centre for Community Law (CFComLaw) is pleased to announce that it now has a presence in the Republic of Liberia, following the appointment of Bishop Dr Josiah K. Pah Sr. as the Centre’s Ambassador in the Republic of Liberia.

The appointment marks a significant step in the Centre’s work of making ECOWAS law accessible, actionable and beneficial to the people of West Africa. It extends the Centre’s reach beyond Nigeria and strengthens its engagement with communities, institutions and civil society across the sub-region.

The announcement comes at a time when the Centre’s advocacy on human rights and accountability under ECOWAS law is drawing renewed attention. A presence in Liberia will help the Centre carry its work on the rule of law, institutional accountability and the protection of persons deprived of liberty into another ECOWAS Member State.

About the Ambassador

Bishop Dr Josiah K. Pah Sr. brings to the Centre a distinguished record in legislative service, public administration, constitutional reform, education and faith-based leadership in the Republic of Liberia.

Current positions

  • Principal, New Hope High School;
  • Executive Officer, Liberia Council of Churches; and
  • Bishop, Greater Church of Deliverance, 7th Episcopal Diocese of Liberia.

Previous positions

  • Member of the Liberian House of Parliament;
  • Chairman, Parliamentary Committee on State Enterprises and Public Corporations;
  • Chairman, Board of Directors, Liberia Petroleum Refining Corporation, appointed by President George M. Weah;
  • Vice President for Administration, AME Zion University in Liberia;
  • Member, Constitutional Reform Committee, appointed by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf; and
  • Member, Board of Directors, Liberia Electricity Corporation, appointed by President George M. Weah.

The Ambassador’s Role

As Ambassador, Bishop Pah will represent the Centre in Liberia, promote awareness of ECOWAS law and the Centre’s programmes, and support engagement with government institutions, civil society, faith communities and academic partners. His role involves the facilitation of the formal registration of the Centre in the Republic of Liberia.

The Centre welcomes Bishop Pah and looks forward to a productive partnership in advancing the rule of law, human rights and community-centred legal education in Liberia and across West Africa.
