Ghana Designates a Competent National Authority

Ghana is the latest state to designate a Competent National Authority for the enforcement of the decisions of the court. by depositing her instrument designating the Attorney General of Ghana as the competent national authority for the enforcement of the decisions of the court, Ghana joins Burkina Faso, Guinea, Nigeria, Mali and Togo to become the sixth ECOWAS Member State to comply with Article 24(4) of the Protocol A/P.1/7/91 relating to the ECOWAS Community Court of Justice (as amended by the Supplementary Protocol A/SP.1/01/05). http://prod.courtecowas.org/2020/07/08/court-receives-instrument-designating-ghanas-attorney-general-as-national-authority-for-the-enforcement-of-its-decisions/  This is a huge boost to the jurisdiction of the court as the growth (albeit slow) in the number of states designating competent national authority signifies the sustained confidence of member states in the judicial activities of the court., especially at this time that the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Right is witnessing the withdrawal by member States of their optional declaration. https://www.african-court.org/en/index.php/basic-documents/declaration-featured-articles-2
